Michael Madsen was arrested over the weekend for misdemeanor domestic battery after Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to call of a disturbance between the actor and his wife at their Malibu home, Deadline has confirmed.

Deputies were called to the home shortly after midnight Saturday by a female adult who alleged Madsen pushed her and locked her out of the house, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Adam Zeko told Deadline. When they arrived the woman was safely with a security team, Zeko said. Madsen was taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station at about 1:40 am where he was booked on misdemeanor domestic battery and released on $20,000 bond.

Misdemeanor domestic battery falls under Penal Code 243(e)(1), meaning force or violence was allegedly used against a cohabitant.

His recent credits include the indies Final WagerSouth of Hope Street and Outlaw Johnny Black, among others. He recently wrapped a role opposite Tanner Beard in Blood Behind Us, a dramatic thriller from directors Brendan Gabriel Murphy (Fluxx) and Shaun Hart (The Fall).
