Prime Video is rounding out the series regular cast for The Runarounds, a fictional YA drama, inspired by the real band of the same name, from the creators of Outer Banks and Skydance TV. Brooklyn Decker (Grace & Frankie), Maximo Salas (Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies), Marley Aliah (Remember Yesterday, The Devil’s Stomping Ground), Hayes MacArthur (Angie Tribeca), Mark Wystrach (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) and Shea Pritchard (The Summer I Turned Pretty) join previously announced real-life band members William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher—along with Lilah Pate and Kelley Pereira. The band was previously featured in a Season 3 episode of Outer Banks, which is heading into its fourth season on Netflix.
Filming will begin this month. The series is set to premiere on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Like Outer Banks, the series is set in Wilmington, NC. Created by Jonas Pate, it follows a tight-knit group of young adults from all walks of life who come together to form a rock band the summer after graduating from high school. The Runarounds will have to choose between succumbing to the pressures of real life or risking it all to become the greatest band of all time.
The Runarounds is produced by Skydance Television and created and executive produced by Jonas Pate (Outer Banks, Aquarius), with a teleplay from David Wilcox (666 Park Avenue, Fringe). The series is executive produced by fellow Outer Banks creators Josh Pate and Shannon Burke. David Wilcox, Joon Yun, Lisa Mae Fincannon, and Scott Lambert, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television.
The series marks Skydance Television’s sixth project with Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video following Reacher and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, as well as the upcoming Cross, an action-adventure series starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, and the recently announced docuseries chronicling the Idaho Murders.
