Grant Ellis received quite a warm response from his family when he shared the news that he’d be leading Season 29 of The Bachelor.
“I’m just calling to let you know I was selected to be the next Bachelor,” Ellis told his mom over the phone in a video posted on ABC’s Bachelor social media accounts on Thursday.
His mom, who was the one to nominate him to be a contestant on The Bachelorette, can barely contain her excitement as she exclaims: “No way! Are you kidding me? Tell me you’re kidding. I’m so excited! I’m so happy for you!”
Ellis also tells his mom he hopes she and his grandma will be able to tune in when his season airs, which she assures they will. That’ll likely be in the winter, though ABC hasn’t shared a release date just yet. Watch the video below.
Ellis had an emotional exit on Monday night’s episode of The Bachelorette Season 21, as Jenn Tran sent him home just ahead of hometown dates.
As the Bachelor, Ellis is “eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure, and genuine connections. He hopes to find a partner who shares his values of loyalty, humor and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures,” ABC says.
Before Ellis begins his own journey toward love, Joan Vassos will be leading the inaugural edition of The Golden Bachelorette when the show premieres September 18 on ABC.
The Bachelor, along with the other shows in the franchise, is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon. Claire Freeland, Bennett Graebner, Tim Warner and Peter Gust serve as executive producers.
