Tim Walz (Politician)
Tim Walz is Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate for the 2024 presidential election.
The 60 year-old politician is currently the governor of Minnesota for a second term. He has served six terms in Congress representing the state. He also served on three committees in the House of Representatives — Agriculture, Armed Servicces and Veterans' Affairs. He also serves on the Congressional-Executive Commission on China. He co-chairs the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, and he also holds roles in the National Guard, Reserve Caucus and the Congressional Veterans Jobs Caucus.
Walz was born in West Point, Nebraska to a public school administrator and community activist. He enlisted for the Army National Guard at 17 years old, and he retired as Command Sergeant Major after 24 years of service. He earned a Bachelor of Science in social science from Chadron State College in Nebraska, and he taught high school in China from 1989 to 1999. He taught school in Nebraska upon returning to the United States.
He met his wife Gwen in Nebraska, and they got married in 1994. The couple moved to Gwen's native Minnesota to teach and coach before Walz went into Congress. They have two children — Hope and Gus.
