Universal has dated the film for May 15, 2026, landing it in the summer tentpole zone Spielberg practically created decades ago with such films as Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark. It would mark his fist major summer release in quite some time.
This would mark the first time The King’s Speech Oscar winner Firth and three-time Oscar winner Spielberg have worked together. Firth is coming off his Emmy-nominated role in the HBO limited series The Staircase. He recently wrapped production on the Peacock series Lockerbie and has a role in Prime Video’s upcoming Guy Ritchie series Young Sherlock.

His film credits also include the Kingsman and Bridget Jones franchises, 1917, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, A Single Man, Love Actually, Girl with a Pearl Earring and The English Patient.
Firth is repped by CAA.
