Simone Biles Opens Up About Withdrawal From Tokyo Olympics In Trailer For Upcoming Netflix Series — Watch

Simone Biles: Rising is coming to Netflix in just under a month.

The streamer announced Wednesday that the series will launch July 17, just in time to kick off the Summer Olympics in Paris later that month. A trailer released along with the premiere date also gives a glimpse at what to expect.

The trailer opens with Biles presumably opening up about her withdrawal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, saying: “I’ve always had really good intuition about things, and unfortunately I felt that way about the Olympics.”

She adds that, while preparing to compete in another Olympic Games was going to be a long and tough journey, “to me, it wasn’t done.”

Simone Biles: Rising follows Biles and her return to the Olympic stage after withdrawing from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to focus on her mental health. Since then, she’s put in the work rebuilding her gymnastics from the ground up and she’s ready for this next stage of competition.

The four-episode series is produced by Religion of Sports in association with the Olympic Channel. Gotham Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran, Giselle Parets and Janey Miller executive produce. Kate Walsh will direct.
